Our Sunday school children are decorating grocery sacks to remind you to donate non-perishable food items to Lift-Up. Items always needed are canned fruits and vegetables, rice, dried beans, pasta and pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, soup, and tuna. Pick up a bag and do some grocery shopping for this important community outreach. Bring your filled bag back to the church, and it will be taken to Lift-Up.

Come and see Bag It on Sunday, October 16th at 1:00

On October 16th at 1:00 p.m., Saint B. will host a free screening of the award-winning documentary film Bag It. Entertaining and educational, it’s not just about plastic bags. What is plastic made of? Where does it go after we use it? And how do you open those darn plastic packages anyway? Join us and bring a friend.

Confused about what your story is … try searching for the details in The Bible!

This Sunday’s Adult Faith Formation Study Group will focus on “characters” of the Bible. Last month’s participants left the gathering with a long list of names of persons whose story comes to life in various biblical narratives. Each participant will offer a presentation of what they were able discover about the biblical character they choose to write a short report about. In their reports, the Bible will be revealed as the living word, and as our word. Reporting on Bible “characters” as real people similar to people they know in their lives, participants will see and hear their story in the Bible story. The passages that make up the “character’s” story reveal that the ancient words of scripture are also the words of our lives today. Participants may suddenly find themselves in and amongst good company in the supposed heroes of the Bible who have flaws and failings in spite of being listed among the favored of Holy Scripture. We are all there … in the Holy Bible. Please join us this Sunday, September 4, at noon, in the loft of the church.

Beginning Sunday, January 2, St. Barnabas’ chapter of the Daughters of the King will sponsor a faith formation study opportunity called “Confirm Not Conform.”  Participants will be able to ask and learn about their questions regarding faith formation from an adult perspective. The basics of the Bible, creeds, prayer book, the sacraments, and different spiritual practices will be discussed.  Fr. Harrison will lead the discussions and they will begin at noon (following coffee hour) and end at 1:00 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month.  There is no cost and you’re invited to bring along friends.  The gathering will be ongoing (the first Sunday of each month) and you can drop in and out at any time.
