Many are fed … some are cured.

” … he went up on the mountain, where he sat down.  Great crowds came to him bringing with them the lame, the maimed, the blind, mute; many others.  They put them at his feet and he cured them” (Matthew 15:29-30).  The gathering for our mid-day, mid-week Healing Service and Eucharist (12:10 p.m., Wednesdays) here at St. Barnabas is small, 3 or 4 persons. But they come carrying many, many prayers in their hands and hearts; more for others than themselves.  They ask for and receive special blessings, sometimes a laying on of hands and anointing for others, which they carry away to pass along.  Although the gathered pray-ers lack in numbers, there is no lack of compassion … they gather and pray even though I am sometimes called away and unable to offer the Eucharist.  In their prayers and hope for healing of mind, body, spirit, and relationships they are still “fed,” and they “fill” others with the “left overs” they carry away.
